More than twenty years ago, Manchem was founded with a clear purpose: to develop chemical products that solve practical challenges across multiple sectors.
What began as a small formulation operation has grown into a South African manufacturer supporting agriculture, healthcare, food processing, and industrial manufacturing.
By combining scientific knowledge with industry experience, Manchem continues to develop products that help businesses operate safely and efficiently.
OUR EVOLUTION
Growing Through Science, Guided by Purpose
Manchem’s development has always been shaped by the industries it serves.
Some of the company’s earliest work focused on specialised disinfection products for shrimp tanks. Around the same time, the team developed a laundry powder known as Inhlanzeko. From the beginning, Manchem’s work extended across multiple industries.
In 2002, Manchem began operating from a small facility in Victoria Road behind Johnsons Workwear. The building had previously been a butcher’s shop, but it became the company’s first manufacturing space.
As demand for Manchem products grew, the company moved to a larger facility in Umlaas Road in 2004, allowing production and development capabilities to expand.
Over time, Manchem continued to broaden its product ranges. Today, Manchem products support industries across Southern Africa.
